Bishop’s Stortford Rugby Club Launches Community Kit & Boot Donation Drive
Supporting Sustainable Rugby and Global Grassroots Development
Bishop’s Stortford Rugby Club has launched a large-scale community donation drive, encouraging members, supporters, families, and local residents to donate pre-loved rugby boots to support Scimitar’s Wear Then Share initiative.
The scheme, run in partnership with Tag Rugby Trust, Rugby Recycled and Scrum 5ive, gives a second life to used sports kit by distributing it to rugby communities in developing countries where access to good-quality kit can make a huge difference to participation, safety, and long-term player development.
Earlier this year, Bishop’s Stortford RFC donated a significant amount of surplus training kit through the programme. Building on that success, the club is now calling on the whole town to get involved.
Supporting Rugby in Developing Countries
The 2026 donation effort will help channel pre-loved sportswear to enabling and supporting rugby in developing nations. Members, players, supporters, and the local community are encouraged to gather old boots (cleaned and ready) and bring them to the club over the coming months.
By participating, donors will be directly supporting programmes that expand access to rugby, promote physical activity, and strengthen grassroots development internationally, directly supporting lives in developing countries.
Wear Then Share Roadshow Arrives Early 2026
Scimitar’s Wear Then Share Roadshow, supported by Titan Wealth, Rugby Recycled, Tag Rugby Trust, and Scrum5ive, will visit Bishop’s Stortford Rugby Club in early 2026. The event promises to be a major occasion for the club and wider community, with special guests set to attend and opportunity to find out more about the kit recycling initiative.
Call for Donations
Bishop’s Stortford Rugby Club invites everyone in the surrounding area to contribute to this meaningful initiative. Collection points will be set up at the club, with further details on drop-off times and accepted items to be announced in the coming weeks.
By coming together and donating old kit, the club aims to make the 2026 Roadshow visit its most successful yet, championing sustainability, supporting global rugby development, and reinforcing Bishop’s Stortford Rugby Club’s commitment to community leadership.
Get Involved
Bishop’s Stortford RFC invites the entire community to take part. Every pair of boots and every shirt donated will help someone else discover the game we all love.
Further updates including collection point details and accepted items will be announced in the coming weeks.
