The Trustees of BSRFC would like to take the opportunity of bringing you up to date with what has been happening at the Club since the onset of Coronavirus.

On the financial front, a seven man Steering Group comprising members of both the Charity Board and the Trading Subsidiary Board was formed to assess the current financial position and navigate a path through this. Much work has been carried out, and, where appropriate, costs have been reduced or eliminated altogether. Subsequent cash flow forecasts have been prepared for the coming months. These indicate a picture which is certainly challenging but by no means critical. As part of the review process, grant applications have been submitted to East Herts District Council, Sport England and the RFU.

At the same time, a Playing/Coaching Working Group has been set up, led by Collin Tilley, with the objective of preparing a future strategy in keeping with the financial climate which is likely to exist when playing starts again.

We have been heartened by the commitments from those involved with the 1st XV and offers of support that we have received from them and other Club members, as well as sponsors, suppliers, our landlords, the Silver Leys Trustees, and particularly Club Stortford, who have provided a generous donation towards end of season playing costs.

This is proof (if it were ever needed) that BSRFC really is a Community Club and we can all feel immensely proud of the #One Club ethos it has created.

There is no doubt that we are all experiencing difficulties but these will not last forever and we therefore look forward to a time when Silver Leys can return to being a hive of vibrant rugby activity again.

In the meantime, we thank you for your continuing support and express the wish that, above all, you stay safe and well.

For & on behalf of BSRFC Trustees
Richard Norden
Chairman of Trustees
