On Saturday 8th March we were invited to attend the pre-match lunch at BSRFC and pass amongst the 300 or so guests collecting donations for our group. Our new admin volunteer, Dee Compton who is also Honorary Secretary of the rugby club was instrumental in our group getting this valuable opportunity.
So, on a lovely sunny afternoon six of us went collecting armed with MS t-shirts, buckets and card readers. We were blown away by the level of support from everyone. Perhaps the beer and wine helped but the card reader was red hot and there were notes and coins flying into the buckets. Special mention to the smooth-talking Anne Wallin who charmed everyone into digging deep. We then positioned ourselves at the entrance to the pitch and caught the supporters who hadn't attended the lunch.
The upshot of this effort was an unbelievable collection of £1,332.48, truly amazing.
Unfortunately, Stortford lost to Rossyln Park 28-40 but we were certainly winners!!
Huge thank you to the collecting team of Martin and Liz Hibbs, Mary Cayford, Anne Wallin and Caroline and Gary Gibson plus of course Dee Compton and the supporters of BSRFC.
